New Operative Course

Who is it for?

For new operatives will have little or no knowledge of asbestos removal practices or procedures or are returning to the industry after a 6 month absence.

Aims

To ensure that all operatives have received underpinning knowledge and have experience of the skills required to be able to work safely and effectively, as stated in the Control of Asbestos 2006 (CAR 2006) and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.

Assessment

To demonstrate that the operative has acquired the necessary understanding of the course, modular tests are set. An overall pass mark of 80% is required. The operative must also demonstrate the use of primary and full decontamination procedures, including showering in a hygiene unit. Candidates not doing so will not pass the course.
