Who is it for?
Managers and senior site staff who are required to manage efficiently and effectively in compliance with both the organisations safety policy and current health and safety legislation.
Aims:
The course concentrates on training managers and supervisors to apply sound management principles to Health and Safety issues as part of a total management strategy. It may be tailored to meet the particular needs of organisations and provides successful candidates with a recognised qualification in health and safety.
Assessment:
Delegates who attend and successfully complete both the practical and written assessments will be awarded the nationally recognised 'Managing Safely in Construction certificate' issued bt the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The practical assessment must be completed in the delegate's workplace and submitted within two weeks of completeing the course.

Contents:
The course covers relevant legislation, duties of employers, employees, clients, contractors, sub-contractors, risk assessments and control, accident/incident investigation, trainingneeds for managers and supervisor.
After successfully completing the course you will be able to:
- Understand relevant health and safety legislation
- Distinguish between the duties/responsibilities of the employer and employee, client, contractor and sub-contractor
- Be able to verify the competence of contractors and sub-contractors
- Have an understanding of risk assessment and risk control
- Describe the concept of unsafe acts and conditions
- Be able to prescribe precautions relative to hazards
- Understand the principles of statutory requirements of accident investigations
- Know the importance of continuous active monitoring
- Explain the importance of consultation with employees or their representatives and identify training needs
