Job Description
The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) is currently seeking a Trainer/Assessor to join our team.
The post holder will be based primarily at our Burton upon Trent training centre, with the flexibility to work from home and regular travel to centres across the UK. Applications are welcome from candidates nationwide.
Working closely with the ARCA Training Team, the post holder will provide ARCA and ATaC members with an outstanding level of service in training and assessment, delivering programmes across multiple locations nationwide.
The successful candidate will have experience of delivering training and assessments within a large organisation, along with experience of undertaking development and auditing processes.
Reporting to: ARCA Training Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm (including Saturday training where required)
Salary: £43,000 per annum
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications
Experience as an asbestos removal manager, or as a senior analyst/surveyor, holding RSPH or equivalent qualifications.
GCSE pass (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Current full driving licence.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver and develop training programmes.
Undertake assessment of candidates to NVQ standards (training will be given to the successful candidate).
Manage and support ARCA training facilities.
Provide technical advice and auditing support to members.
Work within close liaison with the Training Manager on operational matters and promoting positive change within the training department.
Contribute to developing benchmark performance standards with the Training Manager.
Organise, standardise, and ensure the quality of all training materials used during courses.
Skills and Competencies
Working background and knowledge of health and safety in the asbestos removal industry.
Ability to communicate effectively and credibly with individuals and large groups.
Ability to present, interpret, evaluate, and disseminate information.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Person Specification
General Education
Essential: 'O' level English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Desirable: 'A' level or equivalent; Degree.
Professional / Technical Qualifications
Essential: Strong background in asbestos removal management or analytical experience. RSPH or equivalent qualification.
Desirable: Training/assessing qualification or education-related qualification. BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos.
Work Experience
Essential: Experience delivering training and assessments in a large organisation. Experience of development and auditing processes.
Desirable: Assessing candidates to NVQ or work-related competency standards. Project work and development of training programmes.
Special Aptitudes / Skills
Essential: Effective communication with individuals and groups. Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable: Ability to analyse and present information using IT applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to contribute to projects.
Personal Circumstances
Essential: Current full driving licence. Flexible approach to working hours.
