What Do LARCs Need From Agencies?

A practical half-day training course for Labour Supply Organisations (LSOs) working with Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors.

Labour Supply Organisations play an important role in the licensed asbestos removal industry. However, placing operatives with Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors (LARCs) brings real responsibilities – responsibilities that go well beyond simply matching a worker to a vacancy.

This half-day course has been developed with input from ARCA member companies to set out clearly what LARCs need from agencies before, during and after a placement. It is designed for anyone in an LSO responsible for recruiting, registering or placing asbestos operatives.

The course follows a practical Before / During / After framework, covering:

Before the Placement Starts

  • The startup pack: what must be in place before an operative sets foot on site
  • Verifying certificates: training, CSCS cards, medicals and face-fit tests
  • RPE requirements: mask types, components and what the certificate must show
  • Certificate durations: what is valid and for how long
  • Tools, footwear and PPE expectations

During the Placement

  • Induction requirements including the Plan of Work (POW) induction under CAR 2012
  • Daily and monthly RPE checks: who is responsible for what
  • What HSE inspectors check for on agency workers
  • Placement record-keeping: maintaining accurate records throughout each placement

After the Placement

  • Supervisor feedback: how to seek it and what to do with it
  • Common issues and how to avoid them

Delegates will take part in group discussions throughout the session, sharing experience and working through practical scenarios.

Half day – 09:00 to 12:00.
